Essentially, the empty space behind a starship would be made to expand rapidly, pushing the craft in a forward direction — passengers would perceive it as movement despite the complete lack of acceleration. Scientists speculate that such a drive could result in “speeds” that could take a spacecraft to Alpha Centauri in a mere two weeks — even though the system is 4.3 light-years away. i09.com Read more here: http://io9.com/5963263/how-nasa-will-… The warp drive: hyper-fast travel within general relativity: http://iopscience.iop.org/0264-9381/1… New York Times http://www.nytimes.com/2013/07/23/sci… 100 Year Starship project http://100yss.org/ Results of his Alcubierre Drive rethink: http://ntrs.nasa.gov/archive/nasa/cas… Music credit: mik300z https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DRRi… Vangelis – Echoes – length 7:51 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DRRi…
